CIECA will host its next webinar, “ADAS Calibration Issues, Challenges and Opportunities" on Thursday, June 18, at 11 a.m. PDT/1 p.m. CDT/2 p.m. EDT. The free, one-hour live broadcast will feature Joel Adcock, director of strategic partnerships at Revv; Dan Dutra, partner and board member for Pace-ADAS and SVP and partner at CCI Collision Career Institute; and James Spears, head of automotive — artificial intelligence at Tractable AI.
During the webinar, the speakers will provide an overview of current challenges and opportunities in ADAS calibration for the collision industry.
Adcock will break down the disconnect between OEM procedure data, estimate data, and diagnostic data. He will also discuss why ADAS failures trace back to systems integration, rather than technology. In addition, Adcock will explore why calibration execution and documentation compliance don't always line up.
Dutra will share why standards are needed for ADAS calibrations, how they should be defined, and the four segments of a comprehensive ADAS standards initiative.
Spears will talk about the advantages of having ADAS repair procedures early in the AI estimation process and the proliferation of AI auto-damage scanners. He will also discuss the need to have ADAS specifications and share insights into the advantages of early alignment of ADAS procedures among the repair shop, ADAS technician, parts supplier, and insurance carrier.

Joel Adcock
In his current role at Revv, Advock leads partner strategy, enterprise relationships, and industry education initiatives across the collision repair and ADAS ecosystem. His work centers on building scalable partnerships, aligning technology integrations, and helping repair organizations operationalize ADAS research and calibration workflows for safer, compliant repairs.
Adcock is alsothe executive director of the United ADAS Collective,an industry-led effort advancing ADAS education, repair integrity, and cross-industry collaboration. Adcock serves on the Automotive Service Association (ASA) board of directors and as council chair for the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) Education Working Group, where he helps lead industry-wide education, workforce development, and standards-focused initiatives.
With over 15 years in automotive repair, diagnostics, and insurance, Adcock has led business development, estimating, and marketing initiatives across collision centers, technology providers, and diagnostics networks. He previously helped expand Precision Diagnostics across 10 states, supporting more than 1,500 repair facilities.
Adcock holds certifications in Auto Estimatics & Physical Damage Appraisals and studied Business Administration and Marketing. Based near Madison, Wisconsin, he is a proud husband and father of three.
Dan Dutra
For more than 50 years, Dan Dutra has operated across nearly every structural layer of the collision repair industry — from technician and manager to corporate executive, franchise builder, multi-location owner, ADAS recalibration developer, and workforce advocate.
He began his career working in both collision shop production and management, developing a dual understanding of technical execution and operational accountability. He later entered the paint manufacturing sector with Spies Hecker and Standox before joining DuPont through acquisition, where he served on the global integrations team and participated in international initiatives. He was actively involved in the Collision Industry Conference (CIC), co-chairing the Industry Issues Committee and serving on several additional committees during significant periods of industry change. He was also a board member serving both with CIECA and NABC.
As an early equity partner in Fix Auto USA, Dutra contributed to the development of a national franchise model during a defining period of industry consolidation.
Returning to collision repair in 2006, he co-purchased Sigs Body Shop in Hawaii and grew it to four locations before selling to Gerber Collision Group in 2021.
In 2014, recognizing the absence of structured calibration solutions in Hawaii, Dutra helped establish an independent ADAS calibration operation to address emerging compliance and safety demands. The initiative was built out of necessity and driven by a commitment to OEM alignment and consumer safety.
Today, Dutra serves as a board member and partner in PACE-ADAS, a Nashville-based calibration company, where he provides strategic guidance to the company’s leadership. He is also a partner in the Collision Career Institute (CCI), supporting workforce intelligence tools designed to strengthen technician development, hiring alignment, and performance accountability.
