Estimate Use Cases

Description

The Estimate Services details of the needed repair or damage estimate, including parts and dollars.

Actors

  • VDI Provider: A Company whose main businesses concern is providing vehicle damage repairs to the collision repair industry. The provider can perform vehicle damage repairs solely or can coordinate repair operations on a vehicle in conjunction with conventional repairs.
  • Photo Estimating Companies and Software Providers: who generate repair estimates and supplements via photos and other imaging technologies.

  • Parts Providers: Any company who provides parts, OE or Recycled or Aftermarket, for vehicle repair

  • Salvage Vendors: Any company whose work includes the selling of damaged or gently used vehicles (frequently rental company vehicles).

  • Sublet Repair Vendors: Any company who does vehicle repair work on behalf of a repair facility including scanning and recalibration.

  • Paint Vendors: Any company who provides paint to facilities to paint vehicles.

  • Glass Suppliers: Those companies whose main business is to supply auto glass to the Glass Installers.

  • Glass Installers: Those companies whose main business is to install auto glass.

  • Data Recipients: Any company that utilizes vehicle damage appraisals, vehicle damage data communications and/or vehicle damage data. 

  • Third Party Administrators: TPA, the companies whose main business is to administer the claim process life cycle for insurance carriers, i.e. FNOL, Independent Adjusting Firms. 

  • Information Technology Providers: Any entity that develops and/or maintains applications and/or services related to damage appraisals, appraisal data communications and/or appraisal data consolidation.

  • Insurance Company:  Property and Casualty insurers in one or multiple lines of business who acts on behalf of their policy holder and impacted parties for the repair of vehicles.

  • Repair Facility: Any company whose business concern is to repair damaged vehicles.

  • Rental Car Company

  • Damage Appraisers: Any entity whose role is to estimate or appraise vehicle damage and/or record and process appraisal information.

  • Fleet Companies: Fleet companies (including rental, etc.) and their representatives involved in managing repair process of vehicles for their companies or client companies.

  • OEs: OEMs and dealerships, This will include CPOs (Certified Pre-Owned for non-new vehicles)

  • Other Entities: Other parties whose business includes CERning of vehicles, these include mechanical repair facilities, auto recyclers, 3rd party vendors, appraisers, adjustors

  •  Legal Firms: Firms that may be involved in litigation of liability 


  •  Note: Insureds and Vehicle Owners are also affected.

Vehicle Damage Loss Report is Assigned Appraiser and they Estimate Damage and send Estimate to Insurance Carrier

Workflows

 A vehicle damage assignment is initiated by the insurer and transmitted to a staff appraiser, an independent appraiser, or a repair facility for use in the appraisal process.  This is done with Estimating and Imaging applications.

Vehicle Damage Estimate Add

The Vehicle Damage Estimate messages are to send estimates back to the party making the assignment.   This message may also be sent to salvage vendors.  Rental companies receive this message for use in estimating rental periods.

Vehicle Damage Estimate Change

The Vehicle Estimate Change messages are to send estimates back to the party making the assignment.  This message may also be sent to salvage vendors.  Rental companies receive this message for use in estimating rental periods.

Estimate Response(s)

The Estimate Response message(s) is to send confirmation of receipt messages back to the party sending the message. 

Vehicle Damage Photo Estimate Add

The Vehicle Photo Estimate messages are to send estimates back to the party making the assignment, however for a photo estimate this will likely be the first estimate message and may not have an Assignment message preceding it.   This includes vehicle damage claims and may include glass repairs.  This message may also be sent to salvage vendors.  Rental companies receive this message for use in estimating rental periods. 

Property Damage Estimate Add

The Property Estimate messages are to send estimates back to the party making the assignment, this includes vehicle damage claims and may include glass repairs.  This message may also be sent to salvage vendors.  Rental companies receive this message for use in estimating rental periods. 

EMS Estimate

Estimate Management Standard is an Interoperability Standard intended to provide a standard structure to support the exchange of proprietarily formatted information between applications used within the vehicle repair industry.
