Attachment Use Case

Description

The Attachment services messages can either contain an embedded attachment or a link to an attachment. 

Actors

  • Insurance Companies:  Property and Casualty insurers in one or multiple lines of business who acts on behalf of their policy holder and impacted parties for the repair of vehicles
  • Repair Facilities: Any company whose business concern is to repair damaged vehicles, including repairs performed under an OEM repair certification program.
  • Fleet Companies: Fleet companies (including rental, etc.) and their representatives involved in managing repair process of vehicles for their companies or client companies
  • OEs: OEMs and dealerships, This will include CPOs (Certified Pre-Owned for non-new vehicles)
  •  Other Entities: Other parties whose business includes CERning of vehicles or Scanning of vehicles, these include mechanical repair facilities, auto recyclers, 3rd party vendors, appraisers, adjustors
  • Information Technology Providers: Any entity that develops and/or maintains software applications or services related to the delivery of vehicle repair information
  • Third Party Administrators: TPA, the companies whose main business is to administer the claim and repair process life cycle for insurance carriers and repair facilities
  • Legal Firms: Firms that may be involved in litigation of liability

What Triggers the need for using Attachment Services?

CER message sent containing CER only (Embedded Attachment)

or

CER sent in message containing the CER only at a location (e.g., web sites)

or

CER Integrity Validation

or

SCANS sent in a message containing the SCAN only (Embedded Attachment)

or

SCAN sent in a message containing SCAN only at a location (e.g., web sites)

or

SCAN Integrity Validation

Attachment Solutions Available in CIECA

Attachment Add

This is a generic aggregate for the Attachment.  It was initially built based on the 841 EDI transaction and was made generic as it can be used by other applications beyond those that were used by the 841 EDI transaction.  


(Note:  The Price Adjustment and Summary Totals Info found in the 841 EDI transaction were not included in this generic aggregate)

Attachment Response

The Attachment Response message is to send confirmation of receipt messages back to the party sending the message.
