Assignment Use Case

Description

The Assignment Services are used to assign a task or project to be completed. This includes original assignment, reassignment, assignment changes, and assignment cancellations. These messages apply to Vehicle Damage and Imaging, Rental, Glass, Property Damage, Tow and Subrogation Demand.


These messages may include Scan and Combined Environmental Reporting(CER) information.

Actors

Rental Assignment:
  • Rental Provider: A company whose main businesses concern is providing vehicle rental services to the collision repair industry. The provider contracts directly to individuals whose vehicles have been damaged. The Rental Provider can be paid directly by the vehicle renter or by the data recipients. These companies use assignments, messaging, notices and rental bills as part of their rental vehicle services

  • Insurance Company:  Property and Casualty insurers in one or multiple lines of business who acts on behalf of their policy holder and impacted parties for the rental of vehicles that have vehicles that are being repaired.

  • Repair Facility: Any company whose business concern is to repair damaged vehicles.

  • Data Recipients:  Any company that does not rent vehicles but who utilizes assignments, messaging, notices and rental bills to facilitate the use of a rental vehicle services for owners whose vehicles have been damaged and are subject to repairs by a segment of the of the collision industry.  (Repair facilities and insurance companies.)

  • Information Technology Companies: Any company that develops software and/or services related to vehicle rental assignments, vehicle rental data communications and/or vehicle rental data consolidation. 


Vehicle Damage Assignment:
 
  • VDI Provider: A Company whose main businesses concern is providing vehicle damage repairs to the collision repair industry. The provider can perform vehicle damage repairs solely or can coordinate repair operations on a vehicle in conjunction with conventional repairs.
  • Damage Appraisers: Any entity whose role is to estimate or appraise vehicle damage and/or record and process appraisal information.
  •  Insurance Companies:  Property and Casualty insurers in one or multiple lines of business who acts on behalf of their policy holder and impacted parties for the repair of vehicles
  •  Repair Facilities: Any company whose business concern is to repair damaged vehicles, including repairs performed under an OEM repair certification program.
  •  Fleet Companies: Fleet companies (including rental, etc.) and their representatives involved in managing repair process of vehicles for their companies or client companies
  • OEMs: OEMs and dealerships, This will include CPOs (Certified Pre-Owned for non-new vehicles)
  •  Other Entities: Other parties whose business includes scanning of vehicles, these include mechanical repair facilities, auto recyclers, 3rd party vendors, appraisers, adjustors,
  • Information Technology Providers: Any entity that develops and/or maintains software applications or services related to the delivery of vehicle repair information
  • Third Party Administrators: TPA, the companies whose main business is to administer the claim and repair process life cycle for insurance carriers and repair facilities
  • Legal Firms: Firms that may be involved in litigation of liability
  • Data Recipients: Any company that utilizes vehicle damage appraisals, vehicle damage data communications and/or vehicle damage data. 

  • Sublet Repair Vendors: Any company who does vehicle repair work on behalf of a repair facility 

  • Paint Vendors: Any company who provides paint to facilities to paint vehicles

  • Glass Suppliers: Those companies whose main business is to supply auto glass to the Glass Installers.

  • Glass Installers: Those companies whose main business is to install auto glass.

  •  Salvage Vendors: Any company whose work includes the selling of damaged or gently used vehicles (frequently rental company vehicles).

  • Parts providers: Any company who provides parts, OE or Recycled or Aftermarket, for vehicle repair.

  • Photo Estimating companies and software providers who generate repair estimates and supplements via photos and other imaging technologies.

  • Insureds and Vehicle Owners are also affected. 

Glass Assignment:
  • Glass Installers: Those companies whose main business is to install auto glass.
  • Glass Suppliers: Those companies whose main business is to supply auto glass to the Glass Installers.
  • Third-Party Administrators: TPA, the companies whose main business is to administer the claim process life cycle for insurance carriers.
  • Insurance Company:  Property and Casualty insurers in one or multiple lines of business who acts on behalf of their policy holder and impacted parties for the repair of vehicles.
  • Commercial Companies: Commercial companies and their representatives involved in providing coverage for property glass repair for themselves or for the properties they own and/or manage.
  • Information Technology Providers: Any entity that develops and or maintains software applications or services related to the procurement, delivery, installation, and invoicing cycles of auto glass and its associated products and services. 
Subrogation Assignment:
  • Insurance Carriers: Property and Casualty insurers in one or multiple lines of business
  • Subrogation Investigators: Businesses that investigate potential claims and provide their findings and assessments to the insurer.
  • Third-Party Administrators: Businesses that handle the claim administration from first notice of loss through subrogation.
  • Subrogation Attorneys: Entities that provide legal services relating to subrogation resolution.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution Companies: Businesses that facilitate subrogation settlements through other than the traditional legal process.
  • Subrogation Vendors: Businesses that provide collection services.
  • Third-Party Intermediaries (includes Software Companies): Any company that develops software, databases and/or services related to the subrogation settlement process, subrogation data communications and/or subrogation data consolidation.

Workflows

 After the Collision many types of assignment may be needed to provide the customer with all the needed services.  The vehicle may need a tow service, the customer may need a rental, the Insurance carrier will need a damage appraisal, the vehicle may need a glass repair or replacement and if there is a dispute a subrogation assignment may be needed.  

all of these actions use the assignment add message.  The Assignment change and cancel can be used after the assignment is made.
