1st Quarter Tactical Plan Results

The first quarter was another good quarter for tactical plan completions:
  • 13 Action Items were planned for completion
  • 6 Action Items were completed
  • 2 Q2 Action Items were completed
  • 3 Q3 Action Items were completed
  • 3 New Action Items were added
  • 7 Q1 Action Items were rescheduled to Q2 (due to some committee priority changes)

The entire Tactical Plan can be reviewed in the Members Only area of the web site under Committee Minutes.

Strategic Planning

On January 9-10, in Palm Springs, the Strategic Planning Committee met to review and modify the Strategic Plan that was originally developed in 2005. The committee reaffirmed the 6 Strategic Initiatives; however, decided to place additional emphasis on Communication to the Collision Repair Industry.

The RAP (see below), Webinars (Seminars on the Web, see below), standards Implementations, Education, and this Newsletter are some of the methods to improve this communication.

Strategic Alliances/Partnerships

In 2005, CIECA formed strategic alliances with AAIA (aftermarket parts), ACORD (insurance), ARA (recycling), and STAR (OEM parts). The alliances with these organizations will allow all parties to leverage their individual work toward a common goal of standards that work together. Throughout 2006 and into the future, you will hear more about the joint efforts in progress. Currently, STAR's Web Services efforts are being piloted by CIECA. A report will be issued in Q2 2006.

Seminars on the Web (Webinars)

Webinars have been planned and will begin in Q2. An Introduction to CIECA, as well as, Getting around the CIECA web site is available. See the CIECA home page for details. These are available to CIECA members and prospective members.

Repairer Advisory Panel - Next meeting August 1, San Jose, CA

The issues discussed at the RAP are to enable the adoption of technology in the repair shop; that shops are concerned with their IT budget above the standards. If the shop was able to take care of their IT environment, then they would be in a better position to adopt the standard and have more of a cost-benefit proposition with regard to technology. This was one of the prime messages that was heard from repairers.

As a result, the RAP continues in 2006 to review and recommend hardware and software configurations along with "Best IT Practices" for use in the repair facility.

The next meeting of the RAP (Repairer Advisory Panel) will be held from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, August 1, in San Jose, CA. Non-CIECA and CIECA repairers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
