 Educational Documents and
Whitepapers
Education of the industry in areas relating to electronic commerce is an important part of CIECA’s work. Several documents that have been created by volunteer teams and/or staff are available below.
Presentations of Interest The following presentations have been provided as additional Educational materials:

 EMS/EDI Code Lists (Updated 4/10/2003)

The Official Code list is the repository of codes used in CIECA standards and in some ASC X12 EDI standards that call for the use of industry code lists. These code lists become official upon final approval of CIECA implementation guides. Maintenance of the code lists is covered under the CIECA Code Maintenance Procedure which can be found in the Volunteer Tool Kit section of this website.

 Standards and Guidelines

Public Guidelines - B2B Security Guideline (5/19/2003)

Member XML Standards and Guidelines (12/31/2003)

This document provides the collision industry with a common set of Business Messages that may be used to provide XML-based message-processing services across multiple organizations and networks. The CIECA BMS is extensible and customizable for future growth. This document provides the basis for business-level information flow between organizations.

The CIECA Specification provides a robust and scalable framework for the exchange of collision data and instructions independent of a particular network technology or computing platform. The Specification facilitates the implementation of Electronic Commerce. It provides a forum and methods to develop and maintain objective, unbiased, and uniform Electronic Commerce standards and guidelines that encourage open competition and free choice. These values are in the best interest of all entities conducting business with and within the Collision Industry.

Member EDI Standards and Guidelines

EDI Implementation Guidelines that are insurance industry related have been published through Washington Publishing Inc., as designated by the ASC X12 Insurance Subcommittee. This is done for consistency across all insurance related guidelines. CIECA does not publish these guidelines, but can make them available to its members.

Comp-Est Corporation and its sister company Enterprise Logistics have donated the funds required to procure a distribution license for CIECA. Therefore insurance related implementation guides can be distributed to CIECA members at no charge. The guides must be requested by contacting CIECA staff. Non-members can buy the guides from Washington Publishing at www.WPC-EDI.com.
