The PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) Committee is currently an Ad-Hoc committee of the Board comprised of appointed Board of Trustee Members and other interested members.  After the initial investigative period, the Committee may be assimilated into the VDI Committee.

PDR Committee: Charter/Mission

Background
The purpose of this report is to begin committee work on the PDR business information passing between parties as it relates to the collision repair industry. We are asking for responses and feedback from insurance carriers, PDR repairers and software companies that provide PDR products. 

The first objective will be to establish PDR communication framework by identifying relationships to existing data elements, data flow, labor types, labor categories and labor groupings. This information will then be assembled to allow consolidation of data for repairs using PDR only or combined repairs involving PDR and conventional repair methodology.

Mission
Develop standard formatting for PDR data that will allow streamlined data flow and provide ability to consolidate PDR data for reporting purposes, regardless of PDR estimating method used or the combined use of PDR and traditional repair techniques. 

Scope & Objectives
The PDR Committee will focus on:

  • Codes, i.e. operation types.

  • Provide Industry definitions for methods of estimating PDR

  • Establishing relationships to existing data elements. 

  • Determining the benefits to all industry segments.

  • Developing a standard formatting for data communications.

  • Providing method of consolidating PDR repair data regardless of the method of estimating the damage amounts.

  • Establishing PDR Implementation Guide.

Note: This committee will not involve itself in any type of application additions and/or changes. 

Operating Guidelines

  • To incorporate all potential business entities in the business processes

  • To work with the group to respond to group goals and timelines

  • To provide an open working relationship with the Committee within the antitrust guidelines.

Industry Segments Affected
PDR Provider-- A company whose main businesses concern is providing PDR repairs to the collision repair industry. The provider can perform PDR repairs solely or can coordinate repair operations on a vehicle in conjunction with conventional repairs.

Information Technology Companies—Any company that develops software and/or services related to PDR estimates, PDR data communications and/or PDR data consolidation. 

Data Recipients—Any company that utilizes PDR estimates, PDR data communications and/or PDR data consolidation.
